Week 01


Hello World,

This is Devlog No.1 of Team Happy Hippo and our work on our point and click game "T.B. - The crime begins".
We are a group of 4 Game Design students at Designschule Schwerin.  This will be our final project.

What we did this week:
Our amazing artists started off with some concept sketches for a level selection room, a Mongolian room, and a dinosaur-themed room. We struggled with the composition, where to put what, and how this would fit into our Unity scene. At the end of the week Aimee, who is working on our Mongolian room has already finished painting some props such as this traditionally dressed woman or the Mongolian hunting bird.

Meanwhile our programmer Elli implemented an item hotbar that is controlled by the scrollwheel and automatically lets you combine items with other things in the museum. It was a little tricky because the index of the hotbar slots list kept jumping out of range and gave us a big red Unity error but we fixed it and now this works just fine.

Our plans for next week:
In terms of art our artists want to continue and maybe even finish their rooms. We will discuss the level selection room again (it's supposed to be a long hallway with multiple doors/levels) and rethink some Game Design choices we made last school term. We are not fully convinced by the 'giving a presentation'-system and want to find a better solution for the question "Why is Tuya breaking into a museum?".
